It can be extracted from the flower and the upper parts of the plant. Known for its excellent calming properties, it is believed to ease irritation, impatience, and help with PMS, menstrual, and menopausal issues. Roman chamomile is an evergreen with a fresh apple scent, mainly grown in France, Belgium, and Eastern Europe. This herb is beneficial for skin problems like acne, eczema, rashes, wounds, dermatitis, dry/itchy skin, and allergies. It is also said to help with abdominal pain, gall bladder issues, and throat infections, as well as relieve hay fever and asthma. Roman chamomile is helpful for calming children with colic, irritability, diarrhea, and teething when used in diluted solutions. In a vaporizer, it can calm headaches, nervous complaints, and migraines. While the oil is gentle enough for use with children and babies, always consult an expert before use. The medicinal use of chamomile dates back thousands of years to ancient Egypt, Rome, and Greece. The Egyptians dedicated it to the sun god. A papyrus document dating to 2800 BC records its use for skin disorders, and chamomile oil was even used in embalming bodies. Hippocrates, the renowned Greek physician, is said to have used chamomile as a herbal remedy. In mythology, chamomile is one of the nine sacred herbs gifted by Wodan, the god of the underworld, to improve the lives of mortals.
