Our story
boohoo started in 2006 with a simple idea: put the latest fashion online, at prices young people can actually afford, and drop new styles fast. Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane had worked together for over a decade at Pinstripe, a Manchester clothing wholesaler founded by Kamani’s father, Abdullah, which supplied high-street retailers. They saw the internet as a way to sell straight to the customer, and launched boohoo from a small team in Manchester.
From there boohoo grew into a global online brand and, through the 2010s and early 2020s, built a family of fashion labels around it. In 2021 the group bought the Debenhams brand and website and relaunched it as an online department store and marketplace. That marketplace model, with partner brands sitting alongside its own label, worked so well that in March 2025 the parent company, Boohoo Group, began trading as Debenhams Group.
Today boohoo is a fashion-led marketplace. Its own-label range sits next to more than a thousand partner brands across fashion, beauty and home, in sizes from Petite to Plus, with menswear through boohooMAN. Your style, your rules, your budget.
